An immobiliser is an electronic device that prevents a vehicle from starting unless the correct key or key fob is used. First used in 1992, factory-fitted immobilisers (those fitted during the manufacturing process) have been compulsory on all new vehicles in England and Wales since October 1998. You probably only need to resync the key to the car, but, the key fobs do go bad, but, rarely is it because the battery inside is dead. If you cut open the key I bet the battery measures between 3.1 to 3.3 Volts. A brand new VL2020 battery measures a hair less than 3.0 Volts, typically 2.95-2.99 Volts. K.

With it open, and a working clicker battery, you should be able to disengage the immobilizer. Once you get it started, take it to a place that installs alarms/remote starters and they Here I successfully bypass the immobilizer of a honda CRV with these steps. This procedure is good when you lost your original key with a transponder and can'

I believe it is located under the front seat. To access it, locate the trim panel at the base of the seat. Remove it carefully and you'll see the front seat attachment bolts. Remove the bolts and tip the seat back. You'll then see the battery cover and you'll have access to the battery. Posted on Jan 12, 2009.
Not sure but I crossed the leads on a battery charger and I think zaped it, everythings screwy electrically and it won't crank. (I've checked all the usual stuff; clutch switch, ignition switch, etc) I can jump a relay in the trunk an make crank but no ignition. The immobilizer for me is really nothing but trouble. I'm the one imobilized.
They cost too much. Two aftermarket key fobs could be purchased cheaper than one TF fob! To do this I would like my TF immobiliser bypassed or disabled so that an aftermarket kit can be installed. A good price is around £50 and this includes two key fobs, alarm, boot release option, immobiliser, panic alarm, central locking and 3 year warranty
